Under the aegis of the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, COEP Technological University (COEP Tech), Pune, and Munitions India Limited (MIL) have joined hands to strengthen industry-academia association through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 12 October 2026 in the presence of Prof. Sunil Bhirud, Vice-Chancellor, COEP Technological University (COEP Tech), Pune, and Shri Sanjay Hazari, Chairman and Managing Director, Munitions India Limited (MIL), this MoU is a significant step towards strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing and industry–academia collaboration
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. D. N. Sonawane, Registrar, COEP Tech, and Shri N. P. Naik, Director (HR), Munitions India Limited.
The MoU will strengthen COEP Tech’s contribution to bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industrial requirements, promoting technology-driven innovation, and applying technical expertise to address industrial challenges, thereby supporting India’s industrial growth and self-reliance under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.!
The MoU aims to build a strong partnership between academia and the defence manufacturing sector, focusing on:
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Industry 4.0
• Smart and Digital Manufacturing
• Robotics and Industrial Automation
• Specialised Training and Skill Development
• Engineering Consultancy and Industrial Problem-Solving
• Prototype Development and Technology Adoption
This strategic collaboration will facilitate the upskilling of Munitions India Limited professionals, address critical industrial challenges, accelerate technology transfer, and promote indigenous technological capabilities to strengthen India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.
The occasion was graced by distinguished representatives from both organisations, including Prof. Parag A. Sadgir, Dr. S. P. Mahajan, Dr. Sandeep S. Anasane, Dr. B. Rajiv, Dr. Maheshwar D.
